About

My name is Rob Adkins. I’m a network engineer that likes to dabble in automation. I’ve been working in IT for over 10 years. I began with help desk jobs and with the goal of always going in to computer networking.
Certifications and Education
I passed the CCNA for the first time in 2013 while I was still doing help desk work. Since then I’ve obtained a bunch of other certifications, a lot of which have expired.

- JNCIA (Active)
- CCDA (Expired)
- CCNA Security (Expirted)
- Network+ (Expired)
- A+ (Expired)
- Cloud Essentials (Expired)

I’m currently pursuing the CCNP Enterprise certification, with the CCNP ENCOR exam up first. I plan to take the ENCOR certification in March 2026.
I graduated from Western Governor’s University with a Bachelors of Science in Network Operations and Security in 2020. While at WGU, I also was given an Excellence award for Technical Communication, and earned a Certificate of Excellence for my Capstone, the final project of the degreen program.
Work History
I’ve worked in a variety of industries in my career, including legal, manufacturing/automotive, a manage service provider, and a data center most recently. I had involvement in the networking side of the house in all of those industries except for legal where I worked on the help desk.
In each of my last two positions my tenure was greater than 4 years, and showed career growth and progression. I moved from an IT Specialist, to IT Specialist II, and finally to a Senior Specialist before moving on. In my last role, I moved from a Senior Network Technician to a Network Reliability Engineer.
